Journey Through TANZANIA
MAY - OCTOBER
Tanzania is one of Africa’s top wildlife hotspots and boasts vast protected wilderness of which there are several regions worth spending time in. An enormous country with multiple and diverse distinct ecological habitats, mountains, rivers and oceanfront provide an adventurous and inquisitive traveller with an incredible array of experiences.
Ruaha
Kichaka and Usangu Expedition Camp
Ruaha sits in an evocative, ancient arm of the African rift and is still hardly visited but simply has to be experienced. Its remoteness, open-beauty, vast marshes and palm-fringed riparian habitats supporting huge herds of Cape Buffalo and a myriad of other species, is a place that jolts the senses and never fails to invoke a sense of the truly wild, especially on foot!
Nyerere
Sand Rivers Camp
Selous (now Nyerere National Park) is one of the largest protected areas in Africa, one of Africa's most beautiful places to explore, resplendent with a highly biodiverse ecosystem, fantastic scenery and space for the soul. Spending time fishing or birding on the great Rufiji River, walking between and then fly-camping along the shore of one of the impressive flood-lakes, or taking game-drives in search of wildlife and beautiful landscapes is what Selous holds in store for the enthusiastic explorer.
KATAVI
Chada Katavi
Katavi’s vast periodically-flooded grasslands and adjacent woodlands are on a different level altogether, with hundreds of hippopotami aggregating in isolated mud-pools, vast seasonal herds of buffalo, this seriously remote area with only a few camps begs to be seen.
Serengeti
Kuria Hills / Nomad Lamai / Namiri Plains
The northern sector of Serengeti can be mesmerising in its scale and grandeur, but with vastly increased numbers of visitors one has to be led by an experienced guide into the right places at the right time of the season – this is the most important factor which separates a “safari” from a true “wildlife and wilderness experience in nature.”
